Display
Use the settings provided on the Display tab to set the appearance of the 3D model in Vizex.
Draw Style
Select a draw style for the model.
With the exception of point cloud data, If the model file contains normals and you have selected the Override model normals option (see below) the model will be loaded as triangulations.
3D Shaded | Select this option to view the model as a 3D shaded solid.1 |
3D Lines | Select this option to view the model as 3D lines. |
3D Points | Select this option to view the model as 3D points. |
1 This draw style cannot be plotted. When plotted, it is drawn as 3D lines.
Transparency
Use the transparency slider to specify the intensity of the display layer. The visibility of the layers underneath the current display layer will be determined by the degree of transparency you select.
Smoothing
Use the smoothing slider to smooth the edges of the model. Setting the Smoothing slider bar to maximum will make the edges along a surface appear smooth.
The model remains unchanged. In other words, the smoothing is applied to the display layer and not the underlying model data.
Override model normals
If this option is checked, any normals defined in the file will be ignored and new normals will be calculated from the faces and the Smoothing slider.
From version 25.0, Micromine Origin & Beyond uses an updated smooth normals generation for textured models. This process can take some time, so it is only applied to textured models. Selecting this option will mean the previous method for generating normals is used; which will be faster, but not as 'smooth'.
Note: If this option is not checked and there are normals defined in the file, the model will not be loaded as a triangulation and the Smoothing slider have no effect.
