Split Polygon

  1. On the Design tab, in the Editing group: Click Split Polygon to split a closed string (polygon) into two closed polygons.

  1. If no string has been selected, you will be prompted to select a closed string:

  1. Click a point on the closed string to start the split:

  1. Click a second point on the closed string to finish the split:

The split polygons can be selected individually:

Note: If the selected string is not closed, a Split Polygon operation is performed.

Partial String Selection

When a partial selection is active, the tool will automatically split the string at the points representing the beginning and end of the selection. In the case of a partial selection on a polygon, the result is two polygons with common (coincident) boundaries.

At least three vertices must remain unselected when splitting a closed string.

Note: You can also perform a Polygon Split using the Split String tool.
