Triangle Editing
When the display is in wireframing mode, you can edit the triangles in a wireframe individually using the tools on the Vizex | Wireframing tab, in the Triangle Editing group.
-
Click Move Points to move the points on a wireframe.
-
Select Swap Triangle Edge to swap or flip the edge of two adjacent triangles.
-
Click Add Triangle to create a new triangle using three points, or an existing edge and point.
-
Click Insert Point tool to insert a point into a triangle, creating three new triangles.
-
Click Delete Triangles to delete triangles by face or connected triangles, by line or point.
Open the ends of wireframes
To open a closed end:
- Select the triangulation layer as the Active Layer.
- Load the string defining the boundary of the closed end.
- Select a triangle on the closed end.
- On the Vizex | Wireframing tab, in the Triangle Select group, select Select Triangles by Construction String.
The Select Triangles by Construction String function selects all triangles that have all their vertices on the selected string or strings.
- When the Selection Assistant appears, click on the closed end boundary string.
- Accept the selection (or right click). Closed end triangles are now selected.
- Press the Del key to delete the selected triangles.
Alternatively:
- Select the triangulation layer as the Active Layer.
- Rotate the view until the closed end is roughly perpendicular to the screen plane.
- Drag a rectangle to select all triangles except for the closed end.
- On the Vizex | Wireframing tab, in the Triangle Selection group, click Invert Selection.
- Press the Del key to delete the selected triangles.
Close the ends of wireframes
Before you can calculate wireframe volumes, the wireframes must be closed surfaces. The validation function will check for closure. To close the end of a wireframe:
-
Select the string that will be closed by this process.
-
Select the triangulation layer as the Active Layer.
-
On the Wireframe tab or the Vizex | Wireframing tab, in the Build Wireframe group:
-
Select Close Holes | Close End or right-click on the string and select Close End from the menu:
-
Select Close Holes | Close End To Point or right-click and select the Close to Point option.
Remove unwanted triangles
To select triangles:
- Select the triangulation layer as the Active Layer.
- Move the cursor over the triangulated surface or solid and click the mouse to highlight a triangle. To select multiple triangles use the CTRL key with the mouse.
-
On the Vizex | Wireframing tab, in the Triangle Select group:
Click Select Connected Triangles or Select Triangles by Line:
Use CTRL to make multiple selections.
You can change the selection mode using the SHIFT key to select only those triangles that are visible/at the front, rather than all intersecting triangles (front and back). For example, you want to select the Roof triangles on an underground drive without also selecting the Floor triangles.
SHIFT mode will also work for a single click (rather than a mouse drag to define a line) to pick the front triangle rather than all intersecting triangles.
- Press Delete on the keyboard to delete the selected triangles. Alternatively, right-click and select Delete selected triangles from the menu.
- Press CTRL-Z (or click Undo on the title bar) to undo the deletion process.
