Material Flow Summary

  • Defines network of source and destination nodes for material

    • For example, open-pit mines, underground mines, crushers, sizers, heap leaches, stockpiles, mills, customers, waste dumps …

  • Schedule tasks are sources of material

    • Extracts material from “start” nodes

    • Each task assigned a start node

  • Destination nodes accept and process (“transform”) specified material from preceding nodes

    • A -> B -> C à B is destination for A, and source for C

  • Material can be divided into “bins” (e.g. High Grade, Ore, Waste)

  • Quantities of material in start node bins are specified by task attributes

  • Optimiser transfers material between sources and destinations to satisfy a specified objective, subject to specified constraints

Definition

Material

  • Elements

    • Identifying name only required

  • Material Bins

    • Specifies material bins for named elements and maps to task attributes

Sources and Destinations

  • List of definitions of source and destination nodes

Material Entry Points (Sources)

  • Input > Material enters the network at this node

    • Material extracted from tasks assigned to node

    • “Start” node

  • Task source node expression specifies the start node to which a task is assigned.

    • Evaluated in context of task

    • Result matched against codes for each start node

    • “PITA” à task assigned to source with code “PITA”

    • “PITA” returned for all tasks à all tasks assign to source “PITA”

    • {BLANK} or ”” à task filtered out and not scheduled

    • Requires Micromine Beyond v25.0.491.4 or later

  • Only one start node in network à can leave empty

Stockpiles

  • Stockpile > Material can be stockpiled at this node.

Material Exit Points

  • Output > Material leaves the network at this node.

  • No material bin transformations.

  • No output material bins.

Planner

  • Locations for Quantities

  • Quantity > “All Bins” vs “All”

    • "All" includes material starting on stockpiles (no task or material bin associated)

    • No stockpiles à “All Bins” == “All”

  • Location > All Routes

    • == From All Sources

Solver

Output

  • Material Bin Routing

  • All Quantity Task Attributes

  • Selected Quantities by Specified Locations

  • Summary by Period

  • All Quantities for All Locations

  • Task Attribute Summary by Period

    • Legacy

    • Cannot be used with quantities that use material bins, stockpile quantities, named quantities, nor quantities constructed from multiple terms
