Task Types
Task types provide a means of classifying and grouping tasks that are created for different purposes within the schedule. For the tasks that are assigned to them, they facilitate:
-
Classification of those tasks based on their role within the schedule;
-
Custom sets of attributes;
-
Custom animation options;
-
Custom rules for auxiliary task and dependency generation;
-
Filtering of task lists to include only selected types of tasks.
At least one (1) task type must be defined for the schedule before tasks can be added.
On the Scheduling | Schedule tab, in the Task Types group:
-
Click Manage to configure and manage the task types for the current schedule.
-
Click Assign Attributes to select the attributes (as defined using the Schedule | Attributes | Task Attributes option) to be used by each task type and to specify how the values for those attributes are to be determined for each task.
-
Click Auxiliary Task Rules to open the Auxiliary Tasks Generation form. Here you can specify the rule sets used to generate auxiliary tasks for primary tasks in the schedule.
-
Click Recreate Auxiliary Tasks to delete all of the existing auxiliary tasks from the schedule and replace them with new tasks created in accordance with the rules that were last specified on this form.
