Assign Sequence

The easiest way to add tasks to a schedule is to sequence and add tasks interactively in Vizex.

On the Scheduling | Schedule tab, in the Add Tasks group: Select From Vizex | Assign Sequence to sequence and add tasks from Vizex. Tasks blocks to import are selected in Vizex and are linked in order of selection. This always results in a single sequence.

When you sequence and add tasks, a cached layer (mining blocks linked to the tasks in the Gantt Chart) is created. The cached layer is a spatial representation of the tasks in the Gantt Chart.

  1. In Vizex, open the layer containing the wireframes you want to sequence and add.
  2. On the Scheduling | View tab, in the Interactive Dependencies group: Click Assign New Sequence to resequence tasks in the order in which their wireframes are selected in Vizex.
  1. You will be prompted to select the wireframes in the sequence (start date order) they are to be scheduled.
  1. After selecting the wireframes in sequence, click the Accept button (or right-click) to accept the selection.

As an alternative to the Assign Sequence tool, you can interactively define a sequence based upon the direction of a string. See: Sequence by String

  2. Once the wireframes have been sequenced, you can import them as scheduled tasks:

The Wireframe Source and Task Sequencing options in the Add Tasks | From Wireframe | import Wireframe Set form, will be pre-filled to use the selected wireframe sequence from Vizex. In addition, the chosen attribute (BINDEX in the example above) of the wireframes will have been set to a sequence value. See: Import Wireframes
