Intersect with Surface

On the Stratigraphic tab, in the Seam Block Model group: Click Intersect with Surface to do one of two things:

  1. Remove those blocks that lie completely above or below a surface/horizon and trim those blocks that protrude (above or below) the surface or horizon.
  2. Split those blocks that intersect a surface/horizon and assign values to the blocks above and below the surface or horizon.

Input

Seam Block Model file

Double-click (F3) to select the Seam Block Model file that will be used as input to the process. Seam block models use variable-height blocks, which are not limited to a set sub-blocking interval. Seam splits, plies and partings are easily defined.

Optionally apply a filter to restrict the process to a subset of data.

East, North, Z fields

Double-click (F3) to select the coordinate fields in the input file.

DTM

Select this option if you want the surface to be defined by a DTM and specify the Type and Name of the DTM.

Offset

If specified, the Offset value is applied to the Z values of the surface. This value can be positive or negative.

For example if you have a DTM of the topography, but want to trim blocks to 50m below the topography, enter an offset value of -50.

Side of DTM

If the input DTM is a solid rather than a surface, the Side of DTM prompt allows you to specify whether a TOP or BOTTOM value is to be used when comparing values with Z values in the data file.

Horizontal Plane

Select this option if you want the surface to be a horizontal plane instead of a surface. Enter a Z value that defines the elevation of the horizontal plane.

DTM Intersection

The SBM file is modified in one of two ways. The options on the Trim and the Split tabs of the form will be enabled depending on the option you select here:

Output

The results of the process can be written to the same Input file or to a separate Output file.

Modify Input file

If this option is selected, the results of the process will be written to the input Seam Block Model file.

Seam Block Model file

If you have chosen not to modify the Input file, double-click (F3) to select the name of an output Seam Block Model file. The trimmed or split blocks will be written to this file.

Forms

Click the Forms button to select and open a saved form set, or if a form set has been loaded, save the current form set.
