Vertical by Index

For open pit mining, vertical and horizontal dependencies are created manually based on the block model, bench and stage attributes you have imported as part of a long-term plan.

A Vertical dependency for any block requires that the blocks immediately above it need to be mined before it is considered accessible.

In this example, five blocks need to be mined before the underlying block (6) can be accessed:

  1. Before using this tool. ensure that there is no filter set in the Gantt window. Select tasks in the Vizex window using a dragging rectangle.

  2. On the Scheduling | View tab, in the Interactive Dependencies group: Select Vertical | By Index to build vertical dependencies between selected tasks (mining blocks) using an index attribute.

  1. Set the following parameters in the Generate Vertical Dependencies dialog:

Index attribute

Select the Index attribute from the drop down.

Build Interstage Dependencies

If stages are used, select this option and define the Stage attribute and the Bench lag.

Limit active benches

When this option is enabled, dependency links are created between each bench, and the nth bench above it, where n is the maximum number of benches that could be mined at any given time.

This option is unavailable when the Build Interstage Dependencies option is selected.
