Calculations
The application can perform a wide variety of drillhole-related calculations. For example: numeric extractions on various fields, calculating true thickness, true dip and dip direction, intersections and seam thickness, and plane of vein conversions.
The coordinates of the trace, interval mid points, and upper and lower surfaces can be generated.
Regular or irregular sample intervals can be composited by downhole, bench (elevation), Easting or Northing interval. Additionally, a constant field (typically Lithology) can be specified to force a new composite whenever the value in the field changes.
It is also possible to use the values in a grade field to determine the compositing rules. A set of conditions can be specified to determine exactly how this will occur, with control over the cutoff grade, the amount and nature of internal waste, and minimum composite length.
The following options are available on the Drillhole | Calculations menu. All are concerned with the mathematical manipulation of drillhole data:
Extraction
Performs mathematical operations and record extraction on consecutive file records that have identical values in up to three defined fields.
Intersections
Calculates the length weighted average values for defined fixed intervals of a single drillhole.
True Thickness
Calculates the true, vertical, or horizontal thickness of a drill intersection through a formation with a defined dip and dip direction.
POV Conversion
Converts relative coordinates displayed by the Transform Sections and Plane of the Vein into grid coordinates and vice versa.
Seam Roof/Floor
Calculates coordinates for the roof and floor of seams or intervals with identical values in a field.
True Dip and Dip Direction
Calculates the true dip and dip direction given the hole, depth and alpha and beta angles of the structure.
Distance to Drillhole
Models drillhole spacing and distances.
Zones Of influence
Use the Zones of Influence calculation to create boundaries based on drillhole locations and a specified radius of influence.
Pierce Points
Generates events or intervals from the pierce points that intersect an input wireframe or wireframe set.
