Vertical Exaggeration

On the Vizex tab, in the Display group: Select Display | Vertical Exaggeration to apply vertical exaggeration globally to the Z dimension of the 3D objects you load in Vizex. Note that these Z adjustments are applied to the display and are not applied to the coordinate data.

You can also toggle Vertical Exaggeration on or off via the status bar.

Setting Vertical Exaggeration on or off via the status bar, will update the setting in the Display | Vertical Exaggeration form, and since it is a global setting, not just the value for the current view. This default setting will not be overridden when you load a saved view, or create a new view.

Global vertical exaggeration is particularly useful when you are working with objects such as polygons that will form wireframes with a very small Z range. This occurs when working with alluvial ore bodies and stratiform deposits such as coal. Without a global adjustment to the Z dimension, it is sometimes difficult to recognise that there are two polygons very close together.

In Vizex, downhole ticks, labels, and graphs etc are drawn at right-angles to the trace. For the angles to be correct when plotting a section with vertical exaggeration set, the exaggeration in the plot must match the exaggeration that was set in Vizex (at the time the plot file was generated).
