Add Double Switchback
If not already selected, you will be prompted to select a road segment to add the double switchback to.
Select the road segment for the double switchback and click the Accept Selection button.
The Double Switchback form is displayed.
Curve radius
Specify a value for a radius used to determine the extent and tightness of the first curve of the double switchback. Curve radius must be greater than 0.
Inset radius
Specify a value for an inner radius used to determine the extent and tightness of the second inner curve of the double switchback. Inset radius must be greater than 0.
Outside taper length
The Outside taper length determines the extent and tightness of the outer curve of the double switchback. An algorithm is applied to automatically calculate the length of the taper. However, if you want the road to be tapered at a specific length, enter a value. The length of taper is the distance from the road crossing to the place where the taper starts.
Length Calculation Offset
Length calculation is performed from a specified (Inner , Outer , Centre , or Custom ) point on the road, taking into account the road width (which is already defined as part of the properties of the road). The Custom option uses a specified value which is a factor of the road width. Values of 0, 0.5, and 1, for example, are equivalent to selecting Inner, Centre, and Outer.
For the Double Switchback, the Length Calculation Offset option is populated with the setting from the road.
Where multiple flat sections already exist in the design, and you select a segment next to one, the new flat section will be created there and not at the end of the current flat sections.
Note: If a road you add to the design intersects with another road, a warning will be displayed in the Output Console, but the new road will not be stopped.
