On the File | File Editor tab, in the View group:

  • When a Binary field is selected, click Increase Decimals to show more decimal places, click Decrease Decimals to show fewer decimal places.

  • Click Font to change the font (family, style and size) properties of the text shown in the editor.

  • Select Attach Colour Set from the Colour Set button to attach a colour set to the column (field values) you have selected.

  • Select Detach Colour Set to remove the colour set attached to the colour-coded column (field values) you have selected.

  • Select Edit Colour Set to edit the colour set of the colour-coded column (field values) you have selected. The Edit Colour Sets dialog is displayed.

  • Click Attach Lookup Table to attach a lookup table to the field you have selected.

  • Select Detach Lookup Table to detach a lookup table from the current field.

  • Select Lookup File Properties to display the properties of the Lookup file attached to the current field.

  • Select an option to show or hide Horizontal and Vertical grid lines.

  • Click Hide Fields (CTRL + SHIFT + H) to hide the columns you have selected in the editor. You can use the CTRL key with the mouse to select the columns you want to hide.

  • Select Unhide Fields (CTRL + SHIFT + U) to show hidden fields.

  • Click Rearrange Fields to control the order and the visibility of the fields (columns) displayed in the editor. Note that this does not alter the order in which data is stored in the file, only how it is displayed.

  • Click Freeze Panes to freeze or lock rows and columns to be always visible while scrolling in the editor.

  • Click Freeze First Column to freeze or lock the first column to be always visible while scrolling in the editor.

  • Click Freeze Top Row to freeze or lock the top row to be always visible while scrolling in the editor.

  • Select Freeze Fields to freeze the left-most columns in the editor window, so they are always visible when scrolling horizontally.

  • Click Unfreeze Panes (or select the same option from the right-click menu) to unlock and freely scroll the whole dataset. This option is only available when a Freeze operation is currently set on the fields, columns or rows in the editor.

  • Click Show Descriptions to show or hide field descriptions in a second header row below the field name row.
