Interactive by String
If no wireframes are selected, you will be prompted to select them:
You will then be prompted to select the string that overlaps the wireframes to define a sequence:
In the Attribute Wireframe by String form, choose an assignment method and the wireframe attribute to assign values to. A Start value and an Increment value are used to generate a sequence of values, based either on the order of the intersection of the "pierce points" of the selection string, or the view direction.
Assignment Method | Description |
---|---|
Intersection with string | Values will be assigned to the wireframe(s) only when the selected string intersects them. The sequence of assigned values will be based on the order in which the string intersects the wireframe(s). |
A warning is displayed if the selected string does not intersect any wireframe, or does not intersect all wireframes (in which case, the option to proceed using the wireframes that do intersect the string is provided). | |
View direction | Values will be assigned to the wireframe(s) if the string intersects them in the specified plane or view direction. |
Note: Be aware that undesirable results may be encountered when the View direction method is applied to two or more identical and overlapping surfaces. In such cases, the Intersection with String method will produce a better result. | |
This option is unavailable when multiple strings are selected. |
Attribute
Enter (or double-click to select) the name of the attribute to which the assigned values will be written.
Start Value
Enter a numeric value to assign to the first wireframe. Numbers with leading zeros, for example, 001, are supported.
Increment
Enter a value by which the Start Value will be incremented.
Prefix
Optionally, specify a prefix to insert before each assigned value.
Suffix
Optionally, specify a suffix to append to each assigned value.
Group By
Optionally, specify an attribute to group selected wireframes by. For example, you might want to assign a sequence attribute to the stopes on each elevation, using a Level attribute.
Note: If a Group By attribute is specified, wireframes without a grouping attribute value will be ignored. In this case, a warning message is displayed.
Overwrite attribute values
If you are assigning attribute values to an existing attribute, select the check box to overwrite existing attribute values. Clear the check box if you want to keep existing values.
