Add Drives

On the Mining | Ring Design tab, in the Edit group: Select Add Drives to add drives using the drive strings in a nominated String file, and the drive profiles in a nominated Drive Boundary Wireframe.

  1. If there is no Ring Design layer open, you will be prompted to load a Ring Design layer. See: New Ring Design
  2. If a Ring Design is open, but is not the active layer, you will be prompted to select the active layer.
  3. In the Drive Centreline group, specify a String file that contains one or more drive centrelines.
  4. In the Drive Boundary Wireframe group, optionally select the check box and specify a drive boundary wireframe type. The wireframes that define each drive profile will be of this type.

Drive Centreline

File

The String file is the same as any other String file used in the application and will contain one or more strings. Each string in the file is a reference centreline that defines the location and linear extent of a drive.

Add one drive

See “Drive name field” below.

Add multiple drives

When the Add multiple drives option is selected, there is no need to specify a Drive name. Instead, the function will attempt to match values in the Drive name field of the String file with the name of a wireframe of the specified type.

An error message will appear if a drive name in the String file does not match the name of a wireframe of the specified wireframe type. In this case you will need to modify the drive names and or tunnel wireframe names so that they match.

Drive name field

When the Add one drive option is selected, a drive name field must be specified.

Drive name

Double click to select the name of the drive you want to add to the Ring Design.

Drive Boundary Wireframe

Optionally specify a drive boundary wireframe type. Typically, boundary wireframes will have been extruded using the strings in the same String file.

It is a requirement that the drive names match the names of the boundary wireframes you have created for each drive. However, the drive names can be changed later by viewing the properties of each drive.

When the Add multiple drives option is selected, there is no need to specify the Drive name. Instead the function will attempt to match each value in the Drive name field with the name of a wireframe of the specified type. If no matches are found, the process will report an error.

To display other wireframes (for example, a wireframe representing an orebody) use the Display Layers | Wireframe option on the Home tab or the Vizex tab, in the Layer group.

(You can also click Add Drive (Interactive) on the Mining | Ring Design tab, in the Edit group, to interactively select the drive centreline strings and the drive boundary wireframes you have loaded in Vizex)
