Numerical Preparation
Use the Numerical Preparation tool to prepare numerical data for processing - providing the ability to inspect data and replace values across multiple fields.
Input Data
File
Select an input file type and then double-click (F3) in the File field to select the numerical data file for processing. You can optionally select a Filter to limit the data processed.
Output Data
Overwrite input file
Select the check box if you want to replace the selected Input file with the processed data. If the option is not enabled, you can select an Output file.
File
Select an output file type and then double click (F3) in the File field to select or configure the output data file.
Rules
The Rules grid defines the criteria that dictates which cells should be acted upon and the value that will be substituted.
Fields
One or more field names can be selected from the list.
Multiple fields can be selected from the Fields dialog using Ctrl or Shift to select all the required fields. The first field name will automatically populate the Field box in the Data Summary.
Dynamic field expressions are supported. Click on the Use an expression instead link to open the Expression Editor:
Operator
Use the Operator drop down to select the comparison operator for the rule. For example, select = to configure a rule to find a matching Value in the selected field.
Values
The Values fields are used to enter or select the numerical values to be found and replaced in the selected input file.
Use the Find field to directly enter the value to be found, according to the selected operator, in the field/s selected.
You can manually enter the value to replace the found value with in the Replace field, or click the Expression button to open the Expression Editor and use an expression to select calculate the Replace value.
Rule Filter
If required, double click the Rule Filter field to open the Filter form and select a filter for the rule. Alternatively, if required, right click in the field and select New to open the Filter form and create a new rule filter.
Rule filters can be created using the Classic method of grids and fields in the Filter form, or using an Expression when the relevant Mode option is selected.
Flag Field
The Flag Field cells are used to enter a Name and Value for the Flag field of the Output file .
Rows that have been changed by a particular rule will be identified by a flag value. The Flag field is the name of the field in the output file where this flag is stored.
More
If you click the More button, the Numerical Preparation Rule Config form will open.
Changes can be made to the rule displayed and additional details added using the grids and fields in the Numerical Preparation Rule Config form.
Run
When you have added the required rules for the Numerical Preparation click Run to perform the process as configured.
