Actions

On the File tab, in the Actions group:

Merge functions can also be used to transfer selected data from a data file or an ASCII text file into another file.

  • Click Modify File Structure to change the structure of a file by adding and deleting fields, or by changing field properties such as Type and Units.

  • Select Merge | Data File to merge or append data from a Source Data File into a Target Data File.

  • Select Merge | Text to merge data from a Text file into a Data file you have opened in the editor. Fields in the Text file are identified by their Start position and Length. You can determine these by viewing the file in the form.

  • Select Merge | Lab Data to simplify and automate the process of getting laboratory data into the application.

  • Click Append to copy the records from one file and append them to another file that has the same structure. Some incompatibilities between the structures are allowed, like the fields having a different width, for example.

  • Click Compare to compare two compatible files and calculate the difference between them. The process will sort the input files on the key fields you specify and write any differences between the files to an output file.

Convert

Select Convert | Convert to Text Format to convert a Micromine Data file that contains binary fields to a text-only format.

Select Convert | Convert File Encoding to convert to or from Unicode, or between different character encodings.

  • Select Convert | Convert Outlines to Strings to convert the outlines in an Outline file to strings and write them to a String file.

Select Convert | Fix ASCII Data File to run a line conversion fix on Micromine data files that do not contain any binary fields.

Other

  • Click Find Duplicate Records to check a file for the existence of duplicate records, delete the duplicate records or flag them as duplicate records, in either the Input file or an Output file.
