Point

On the Design tab, in the Utilities group, use the options on the Point menu, to downsample you point data using a number of methods.

  • Select Point | Downsample Points to reduce the number of data points in an input dataset whilst retaining the integrity of the data. This is a pre-processing step for dense (e.g. LIDAR) data sets.

  • Select Point | Snap Nearby Points to adjust X and Y coordinates in a data or outline file so that those points within a specified tolerance of each other are assigned the same coordinates. While the number of points remains the same, the number of unique points is reduced.

  • Select Point | Remove Nearby Points to reduce the number of data points in a String file by eliminating those which fall within a specified tolerance.
