Segment Codes

On the Home tab, in the Setup group: Select More > Segment Codes to control how Rolling Resistance is controlled and how and Speed Limits are set for different segments of roads.

Rolling Resistance is the force that resists the rolling of a wheel or other circular object along a surface caused by deformations in the object and/or the surface.

  • Overall Speed: The entire segment cannot go any faster than the Overall Speed

  • Initial Speed: The truck must enter this segment at the Initial Speed or lower (slows down in the segment beforehand)

  • Final Speed: The truck must leave this segment at the Final Speed or lower

For more information, see: Rolling Resistance

View and (if necessary) edit the list of segments:

Add segment.
Delete the currently selected segment.
Copy the currently selected segment.
Use the Bulk Editor to make bulk modifications to segments.

Example: Using a segment to setup a Stop sign

This example shows the first part of setting up a Stop Sign using Segment Codes. The second part involves setting a small segment of road to use the Segment Code created here:

  • Description: Stop Sign

  • Maximum Speed When Full (Final): 0km/h

  • Maximum Speed When Empty (Initial): 0km/h
