#5 Pit Optimisation -> Nested Pits -> Pit Designs -> Incremental Solids -> Mining Blocks

Summary

  • Run pit optimisation.

  • Create pit designs for selected nested pit shells.

  • Create incremental solids for pit designs.

  • Cut incremental solids into 3D grid of mining blocks split by pit design boundaries.

  • Calculate attributes from block model.

  • Use grid indexes to determine task (mining block) dependencies.

Steps

  1. Resource block model

  2. Run pit optimisation

    • Mining | Resource Optimisation | Pit Optimiser

    • Set Design > Staging > Generate Nested Pits … to specify RAFs for nested pits

    • Set Output > Reports > Report Data Sources > Report = Block Model

      • Set Report File = name of block model to be saved

    • Set Output > Staging Wireframes > Output = Stage Solid

      • Set Type = name of wireframe type for stage solids

      • Set Name = base name of stage solids for this pit

  1. Create pit designs for each selected stage solid

    • Set Setup > Topography = topographic surface

    • Set Guides > Adjust to Optimised Shell Boundary = Type and Name of stage solid

      • Select Show Contours

    • Complete pit design for stage solid

    • Select Export | Export Pit Strings

      • Set File = name of file to contain pit design strings for stage solid

  1. Create incremental solids for pit designs

    • Mining | Task Preparation | Incremental Solids

      • Set Surfaces > Topography to topographic surface

      • Add Surfaces > DTM/Contour for each pit design contour

      • Set Output > Incremental Solids to Type = Pit Design Incremental Solids (for example)

  1. Create schedule

    • Schedule | Attributes | Task Attributes must include Stage as NUMERIC attribute

  1. Create Schedule Definition as per #1: Direct Block Scheduling: Schedule Definition

  • Set Block Models > Definition > Input Data = block model output from pit optimisation

  • Set Task Sources > Pit Wireframes > Definition > Input > Stages = Type for incremental solids for pit designs

    • Set Incremental Pit Solid Names = ordered list of names of incremental pit design solids

      • Set Output = suitable identifying prefix for tasks in each pit increment

    • Set Output > Attributes to include Stage to assign stage (increment) number to each task
