#3 Pit Optimisation -> Nested Pits -> Mining Blocks

Summary

  • Run pit optimisation

  • Cut selected incremental pit shells into 3D grid of mining blocks split by shell boundaries.

  • Calculate attributes from block model.

  • Use grid indexes to determine task (mining block) dependencies.

* Similar to #2: Pit Optimisation -> Mining Blocks using multiple stage shells instead of only final pit shell

Steps

  1. Resource block model

  2. Run pit optimisation

    • Mining | Resource Optimisation | Pit Optimiser

    • Set Design > Staging > Generate Nested Pits … to specify RAFs for nested pits

    • Set Output > Reports > Report Data Sources > Report = Block Model

      • Set Report File = name of block model to be saved

    • Use all nested pits

      • Set Output > Staging Wireframes > Output = Incremental Solid

        • Set Type = name of wireframe type for incremental pit solids

        • Set Name = base name of incremental pit solids for this mine

    • OR … Use selected nested pits

      • Set Output > Staging Wireframes > Output = Exact Surface

        • Set Type = name of wireframe type for exact nested pit surfaces

        • Set Name = base name of exact nested pit surfaces for this mine

      • Use Mining | Task Preparation | Incremental Solids to generate incremental solids between selected nested pits

        • Set Surfaces > Topography = topographic surface

        • Set Surfaces > DTMs = ordered list of selected exact nested pit surfaces

        • Set Output > Incremental Solids = Type and Prefix for incremental solids between each selected exact nested pit surface

  1. Create schedule

  • Schedule | Attributes | Task Attributes must include Stage as NUMERIC attribute

  1. Create Schedule Definition as per #1: Direct Block Scheduling: Schedule Definition

    • Set Block Models > Definition > Input Data = block model output from pit optimisation

    • Set Task Sources > Pit Wireframes > Definition > Input > Stages = Type for incremental solids for selected nested pits

      • Set Incremental Pit Solid Names = ordered list of names of incremental pit solids

        • Set Output = suitable identifying prefix for tasks in each pit increment

      • Set Output > Attributes to include Stage to assign stage (increment) number to each task
