Coordinate Systems

This topic provides a summary of new features and enhancements related to Coordinate Systems.

EPSG Hyperlink

The EPSG information displayed in the Coordinate Reference Systems dialog now features a hyperlink to the relevant EPSG (European Petroleum Survey Group) database page for the selected system.

EPSG.io pages for coordinate systems include information on the available transformations, centre coordinates and other useful details.

Improved Coordinate Conversion

An enhancement has been added to the Coordinate System Conversion tool on the Survey tab, in the Coordinate Systems group to provide automatic conversion of coordinates of differing units of measure.

For any source coordinate system not in metres (such as a US system in feet), the tool will now convert Z to metres - ensuring the height conversion always occurs in metres. The coordinate transform occurs after this conversion, then Z is converted to the target coordinate system units. This prevents Z being treated as the incorrect unit and transformed in error.
