Labels
To add labels and tick marks to the scale bar, enter the following parameters in the Labels tab of the Scale bar form.
Frequency
Select the frequency with which the intervals, divisions and subdivisions, will be numbered. As you make a selection, the effect of your choice will be visible in the Preview pane.
| None | Numbers will not be shown. |
| Single | The start and end of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| Ends | The start and end of each interval will be numbered. |
| Divisions | Each division of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| First Subdivision | The first subdivision of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| All Subdivisions | All Subdivisions of the scale bar will be numbered. |
Position
Specify the (Above, Below) position of the labels relative to the line or bar of the scale bar.
Label
Optionally enter label text (for example: Miles, Km) that will be added as a suffix for each number on the scale bar.
Font
You can double click the Font preview to open the Text Properties form and make changes to the font settings for the labels.
Colour
Double-click on the colour icon to select the colour that will be applied to the label text.
Gap
Specify the gap or spacing (in points) between the label text and the line or bar of the scale bar.
Adding tic marks
Frequency
Select the frequency with which tic marks will be shown along the scale bar. As you make a selection, the effect of your choice will be visible in the Preview pane.
| None | Tic Marks will not be shown. |
| Single | The start and end of the scale bar will be marked. |
| Ends | The start and end of each interval will be marked. |
| Divisions | Each division of the scale bar will be marked. |
| First Subdivision | The first subdivision of the scale bar will be marked. |
| All Subdivisions | All Subdivisions of the scale bar will be marked. |
Position
Specify the (Above, Below) position of the tic marks relative to the line or bar of the scale bar.
Division Height and Subdivision Height
To differentiate between divisions and subdivisions it is usual to specify a different tic height for each. Specify the height (in points) of the tic marks that mark each division and subdivision along the scale bar.
Colour
Double-click on the colour icon to select the colour that will be applied to the tic marks.
Line Width
Specify the line width (in points) of the tic marks.
