Settings

On the Home tab, in the Graph group: Select Settings to set parameters which determine how input source data is retrieved and how unit results are reported for a data flow.

This option also available when you right-click on a data flow in the Data Flows Window.

Input Options

Range

The records retrieved from the Deposit data table are based on a Picked Range or a Text Range.

Grouping Expression

Click on the ellipsis to use the Expression Editor to create a Grouping Expression that will be used to subdivide the input source data into groups. The action will be applied to each group, rather than to the input source as a whole.

For example, you want to apply an action to each of the Strips that comprise a Pit Solid:

GetText(IdentifiersStrip)

Clear Fields

Select this check box option to clear any values in the Value fields and Identifier fields you have specified prior to processing.

Fields

Select the folders and/or fields that will be processed by the data flow.

Processing Options

Parallel Processing

Select this option to run processes in parallel. Processes that depend on a predecessor process are excluded.

Unit Results

Note that data flows do not operate directly on the leaf nodes of the underlying data table, which belong to a rigid tree hierarchy. Instead, units are derived from the leaf nodes of the table and are able to be manipulated (merged or split) using expressions. A Summary Expression and/or an Output Preview Node Expression can be defined.

Materials, Field Classifications, Value Fields and Identifier Fields are defined on separate tabs:

Materials

On the Materials tab of the Data Flows Setup > General tab, select the materials that will be processed by the data flow. The Text Colour and the Background Colour you select are shown in the Preview pane, when the Data Flows Window is open.

Field Classifications

On the Field tab of the Data Flows Setup > General window, setup the field classifications that will be used to group the fields you have selected for inclusion in the data flow.

Value Fields

On the Value Fields tab of the Data Flows Setup > General window, add the identifiers that will be mapped to the fields in the underlying data table. Value Fields are used to store the unit results that are previewed and written back to the table.

Identifier Fields

On the Identifier Fields tab of the Data Flows Setup > General window, add the Text identifiers that will be used to filter the input source data.

When Materials are defined, Material is a compulsory identifier field.

Levels defined for the underlying data table are added by default:
