On the Design tab, in the Create group:
-
Click New Points to begin digitising new points in the display. To finish, either double-click as you digitise the last point or press Escape (ESC).
-
Click New String to begin digitising a new string in the display. As an alternative, press the 'N' hot key to start a new string or polygon. The length, azimuth, inclination and gradient % of the string is shown on the status bar as a reference.
To finish the string, either double-click as you digitise the last point or press Escape (Esc). This tool will be disabled when the display is in String Clipping mode.
-
Click New Polygon to begin digitising a new closed string in the display. As an alternative, press the 'N' hot key to start a new polygon or string.
-
Select New Polygon | New Symmetrical Polygon to digitise the radius of a circle that will be used to create a symmetrical polygon. You can then specify a start angle and the number of points (sides) of the polygon.
-
Click New Donut Polygon to begin digitising a new multi-part (donut) polygon from scratch.
-
Select New Donut Polygon | Add Polygon Part to digitise a polygon and either attach it to an ordinary polygon or add it to a donut or multi-part polygon.
-
Select New Donut Polygon | Combine Polygon Parts to create a multi-part or donut polygon by combining two or more parts.
-
Select New Donut Polygon | Separate Polygon Parts to separate the constituent parts of a multi-part or donut polygon.
-
Select Create Spline to digitise a polyline that will be used to guide an adjustable Bezier spline.
-
Select Rectangle | 2-Pt Rectangle to create a screen-axis-aligned rectangle, either by clicking two corner points, or by clicking and dragging the mouse to define the rectangle.
-
Select Rectangle | 3-Pt Rectangle to create a non-screen-axis-aligned rectangle. Use the mouse to digitise two points which define the angle and length of one side of the rectangle, then move and click the mouse to define the length of the second side.
-
Select Circle/Ellipse | 2-Point Circle to digitise the centre point and the radius of a circle.
-
Select Circle/Ellipse | 3-Point Circle to create a circle by digitising three points. The first two points define the chord of a circle, while the third point determines the size and position of the circle in relation to the chord.
-
Select Circle/Ellipse | Ellipse to create an ellipse by digitising a centre point and two radii.
-
Select Arc | 2-Point Arc to digitise an arc from a centre point, an arc start point, and an arc end point.
-
Select Arc | 3-Point Arc to digitise an arc from an arc start point, an arc mid-point, and an arc end point.
-
Select Structural Data| New Structural Data to create a new structural data layer.
-
Select Structural Data | Open Structural Data to display and edit structural data.
-
Select Structural Data | Create Disc to add a disc to an active structural data layer.
-
Select Structural Data | Create Lineation to add a lineation to an active structural data layer.
-
Select Structural Data | Create Disc on Surface to activate the tool to create a structural disc on the displayed surface by selecting multiple points and using plane of best fit.
