Mine

Use the Mine tab to specify settings for the mine for which optimum pits or stope layouts are to be determined. Click right on the icon and select Edit, or press F4, to edit the specified form set.

The cutoffs are calculated in accordance with the Whittle methodology:

(MiningDilution * ProcessingCost * PCAF + Threshold * MiningDilution * ProcessingRecovery * (Price - SellingCost) - (RehabCost + MiningWaste - MiningOre) / MiningRecovery) / (ProcessingRecovery * (Price - SellingCost) - ElementCost)

However, these values are calculated solely for reporting on the form – they are not explicitly passed to the optimiser. The optimiser uses the Optimisation Values that are calculated for the blocks.

Name

Enter the name of the mine for which the model and design parameters are specified.

Code

Enter the identification code to be assigned to the mine for which the model and design parameters are specified. This code is used to identify the mine within reports and for abbreviated labelling of mine-related entities as required.

Definition

Select the form set that specifies the details of the block model, the design parameters for the mine and the output required.

Click left on the icon to select an existing form set. Click right on the icon and select New to create a new form set. When prompted, enter the name to be assigned to the new form set and press OK.

Mine Setup

The Mine Setup form specifies how the mine for which the stopes or pits are to be generated will be modelled, the requirements for the stope or pit design, and the outputs required.

The form contains the following tabs:

  Block Model Block model, source fields for key properties, optimisation boundaries and sources of optimisation values.
  Material Bins Material bins defined for the mine.
  Elements Elements produced from the mine.
  Rock Types Source field for rock type and list of rock types.
  Dilution and Recovery Global dilution and recovery factors for the mine.
  Defaults Values that apply in absence of block-specific information.
Design   Requirements for the design of the mine.
  Underground Optimisation method, mining costs for ore and waste, and design regions.
  Exclusion Zones Zones to which generated stopes or pits should be confined or from which they should be excluded.
  Staging Parameters for staging the development of the mine.
  Solver (Stope optimser only.) Configuration options for integrated mathematical programming solver.
Output   Options for output of results.
  Reports Reports to be generated, including details of pre-processing using Report Generator where required.
  Staging Points File in which coordinates of centres of blocks assigned to each stage of the mine’s development are to be saved.
  Staging Wireframes Wireframes for generated stopes or pits.
  Block Model Attributes Fields in the block model for the mine that are to be updated with results from optimisation.
