Configure Controlled Areas

Signs and permits in Pitram are used to record and control entry to controlled areas on site. Access is usually restricted because of some hazard or danger. In Data Acquisition, when you create a sign or a permit you will be asked to select the sign type or the permit type on which it will be based. Sign types and some permit types are configured in Reference Edit.

Sign Types

A number of site-specific Sign types can be configured, for example - No Entry, Restricted Access, Men Working Below etc.

Permit Types

When Pitram is installed, there are four Default permit types:

  • Confined Space Entry.
  • High Voltage Access and Vicinity.
  • Hot Work.
  • Level 2 Isolation.

As an alternative to the Default permit types, a number of Site-specific permit types can be configured.

Note: If you are running a version of Pitram earlier than version 3.29, you will need to deploy one or more Site-specific permit types and Default permit types will not be available for selection:

When at least one Site-specific permit type has been configured, the Default permit types are no longer available for selection when you define a permit in Data Acquisition. Permits that were created using the Default permit types, will not be affected.
