Clear target field and Overwrite target field

Clear target field

Select Clear target field to delete all entries in the fields that will receive attributes in the process. These are the fields specified in the Assign Attributes to Assign group on the form.

Use this option to clear existing values in the target file if you have changed or added wireframes. This will ensure that any existing attributes that have already been written to the target file are removed before the process starts.

Overwrite target field

The setting for Overwrite target field will determine which data are written to the fields specified in the Attributes to Assign group.

When you select Overwrite target field, values that have already been assigned to a field can be overwritten by:

• Attributes from a wireframe that overlaps another wireframe already processed by the function.
• An attribute from the same wireframe if: a) that attribute is specified several times in the Attributes to Assign group and, b) the attribute is assigned to the same field.

If you clear the Clear target field option and select Overwrite target field, existing values in the target fields will not be deleted but can be overwritten.

If you clear Overwrite data, existing values will not be overwritten. Using the Overwrite target field setting you can control which attributes have priority in the process when wireframes overlap.

For Wireframe | Assign, when a data point lies within more than one wireframe and you select Overwrite target field, the target field for that point will contain the attribute of the last wireframe assigned. If, in the same circumstances, Overwrite target field is cleared, it will contain the attribute of the first wireframe assigned.
