Export Period Solids

Period Solids are 3D triangulations representing where mining is occurring in one period of scheduling.

To export period solids:

  1. Go to the Schedule tab.

  2. Run the schedule.

  3. Go to the Animation tab > Animation panel.

  4. Click the Exports button on the left of the Animation panel.

  5. Select the "Export Period Solids" option.

Animation tab > Animation panel > Exports menu button

Period Solids dialog

In the Export Period Solids dialog:

  1. Select Reserves/Dumps and/or select a Record Subset to export from the tree hierarchy on the left.

  2. Configure the following Export Settings and Options.

  3. Click OK to proceed with the export.

Setting

Description

Export Type

  • Single period: The output from the settings you have selected will be a folder for each period, where any mining activity is carried out.  Each period's folder will contain a separate geometry file for each block worked on during that period.

  • Cumulative: The output from the settings you have selected will be a folder for each period, where any mining activity is carried out.  Each period's folder will contain a separate geometry file for each block worked in that period or any preceding period.

Note: This export will take extra time and will result in a larger file size because the same solid will appear in many period's folders.

Method Type

  • Separate: Each period's folder will contain a separate geometry file for each block worked on during that period.

  • Merged: The output from the settings you have selected will be a separate geometry file for each period where any mining activity is carried out. Data will be split into two files, one for Dumps and one for Pits, containing data for any block worked on during that period.
Note: Selecting Merged will display additional fields to populate.

  • When Merged is the Method Type (above) Surfaces can be used to adjust the shape of the solids.

Note: These settings are optional and can be skipped if you have already cut pit solids in Rapid Reserver.

Options

Option

Description

File Format

Select the (*.00t, *.dtm, *.dxf, *.csv, *.obj, *.tridb) file export format.

Temporary File Folder (Optional)

(Optional) Folder used to temporarily store files before zipping.

Clip Blocks by Designs

Will cut the period solids by the Surfaces selected.

Included Period Name in File Name

Will include period name in folder or file names.  Where the name is changed will depend on the output options selected above.

Grid Constraints

Two options available to control the area used when creating solids.

  • Full Extents: Will use the full extents of blocks and surfaces.

  • Blocks: Will limit the area to blocks plus the Limit Expand Distance.

Limit Expand Distance

Only available when using Blocks Grid Constraints.  Limit the period solids export to a given radius around the scheduling blocks.

Grid Resolution

Grid size to use in creating the period solids. The smaller the grid size, the more detail will be in the output solids. This also results is larger files and more time to process.

Period Selection

Used to select what periods to export.

Clip Mined Solids

Only available when Export Type is set to Single and Method Type is set to Separate.

  • None – Solids will be based on the animation positions.

  • Volume – Solids will be created to match the period volumes. Note this will take slightly longer to run.
