Scale Bar Settings
A scale bar is not shown when the display is in Perspective mode and the scale bar toggle button and settings are greyed-out.
To toggle the display of the scale bar on and off, select View | Coordinate Grids | Scale Bar.
Location
Use the grid to select the (Top Left, Middle Centre, Bottom Right etc.) location of the scale bar in the display window.
Width
Specify the width of the scale bar in millimetres.
Horizontal and Vertical offset
You can adjust the position of the scale bar by entering a Horizontal and Vertical offset in millimetres.
Scale
Interval
Use the increment and decrement buttons to set the number of intervals that will be displayed along the scale bar.
Divisions and Subdivisions
Use the increment and decrement buttons to specify how each interval will be subdivided. If you have chosen one of the alternating scale bar styles, the effect of your settings will be visible when you click the Apply button on the form.
Show one division before zero
Select this option if you want to display a division of the scale bar before zero. This option is often used to in conjunction with the FIRST SUBDIVISION labelling frequency option to show labelled subdivisions in the division before zero.
Format
Set the format of the scale bar and the scale bar labels.
Style
Select the style of the scale bar.

Fill Colours
Double-click on the colour icons to select the fill colours that will be applied to the scale bar. If the chosen scale bar style is not an alternating one, then the alternate (second) colour will not be used.
Bar height
Use the increment and decrement buttons to set the height of the scale bar. To display ticks, refer to the options on the Labels tab.
Line Colour
If you want to display a line around the edge of the scale bar, double-click on the colour icon to set the colour of the line.
Line Width
If you have selected a line colour, specify the width of the line that will be drawn around the edge of the scale bar.
Background Colour
Double click in the colour box to select a background colour for the scale bar.
Labels
To add labels to the scale bar, specify the following parameters:
Frequency
Select the frequency with which the intervals, divisions and subdivisions, will be numbered. As you make a selection, the effect of your choice will be visible in the Preview pane.
| None | Numbers will not be shown. |
| Single | The start and end of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| Ends | The start and end of each interval will be numbered. |
| Divisions | Each division of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| First Subdivision | The first subdivision of the scale bar will be numbered. |
| All Subdivisions | All Subdivisions of the scale bar will be numbered. |
Position
Specify the (Above, Below) position of the labels relative to the line or bar of the scale bar.
Label annotation
Optionally enter label text (for example: Miles, Km) that will be added as a suffix for each number on the scale bar.
Text Properties
Double-click on the Text Properties Preview box to select a font and set text properties for the labels.
Colour
Double-click on the colour icon to select the colour that will be applied to the label text.
