Stopes

On the Stopes tab of the Stope Design and Generation form, specify the dimensions, minimum separations and inclinations in each direction for the stopes, and the parameters for any dilution to be included.

The values specified for dimensions, including those for dilution, and separations should be multiples of the slice width as specified by the Slice field. The values will be divided by the slice width and rounded as required to produce a whole number of slices.

Tip: To minimise unwanted side effects from rounding, set the slice width to the greatest common decimal factor of the dimensions and separations.

The settings are organised into three (3) groups, for which the names are referenced to the direction of the tubes extruded from the reference grid. The “strike” is the direction in which the stopes are generated, which is along the extruded tubes. This may be different to the geological strike.

Using a right-handed coordinate system, which may be rotated with respect to the real-world coordinate system, the table below describes how to identify each of the directions:

Group

Right-handed Coordinate Axis

Description

Along Strike

Y

Along the length of the extruded tubes, perpendicular to the face plane of the tubing grid. The tubes are sliced, parallel to the face plane of the tubing grid, in this direction.

Across Strike

X

Across the width of the extruded tubes, parallel to the face plane of the tubing grid.

Vertical

Z

Towards the height of the extruded tubes, parallel to the face plane of the tubing grid.

Along Strike

Set the dimensions, minimum separation and inclination of the stopes orthogonal to the face plane of the tubing grid along the extruded tubes (the strike of the stopes).

Dimensions

Specify the minimum and maximum lengths of the stopes, and the width of the slices, orthogonal to the face plane of the tubing grid along the extruded tubes (the strike of the stopes):

Minimum stope

Specify the minimum length (0.0 or >= Slice) of the stopes orthogonal to the face plane of the tubing grid along the strike of the stopes.

Maximum stope

(Optional.) Specify the maximum length (0.0 or >= Minimum stope) of the stopes orthogonal to the face plane of the tubing grid along the strike of the stopes.

Slice

Specify the width (> 0.0) of the interval, orthogonal to the face plane of the tubing grid along the strike of the stopes, at which the extruded tubes are sliced and populated with attributes of interest from the block model.

Minimum Separation

(Optional.) Specify the minimum spacing (>= 0.0) of consecutive stopes along the strike of the stopes.

Inclination

(Optional.) Specify the angle (0 < x < 180, degrees) between the base of the extruded tubes along the strike of the stopes and the stope face.

This determines the angle of the slicing plane along the strike of the stopes relative to the tubing grid. The inclination is generated by rotating the slices around the across-strike vector at the point of slicing towards the along-strike vector.

Near Dilution

(Optional.) Specify the dilution to be included at the near end (closest to the face plane of the tubing grid) of the stopes. This dilution is included in addition to that specified by Stope Optimiser > Mine > Definition > Model > Dilution and Recovery > Dilution.

Dimension

Specify the length (>= 0.0) of additional dilution along the strike of the stopes to be included at the beginning (on the face closest to the face plane of the tubing grid) of each stope.

Impact

Specify how the near dilution dimension (above) impacts the grades of the blocks in the affected slices.

Option

Description

None

The values will be unadjusted.

Assign Grade

The primary element grade will be set to the specified Value.

Cut Grade

The primary element grade will be set to specified Value if it was exceeded.

Scale Grade

The primary element grade will be scaled by the specified Value.

Scale Optimisation Value

Scales all values by the specified Value, this includes all volumes and tonnages.

Value

Specify the value of the parameter (grade, factor or optimisation value) for Impact.

Far Dilution

(Optional.) Specify the dilution to be included at the far end (furthest from the face plane of the tubing grid) of the stopes.

This dilution is included in addition to that specified by Stope Optimiser > Mine > Definition > Model > Dilution and Recovery > Dilution.

Dimension

Specify the length (>= 0.0) of additional dilution along the strike of the stopes to be included at the end (on the face furthest from the face plane of the tubing grid) of each stope.

Impact

Specify how the far dilution dimension (above) impacts the grades of the blocks in the affected slices.

Across Strike

Specify the dimension, minimum separation and inclination of the stopes in the face plane of the tubing grid across the width of the extruded tubes.

Dimension

Specify the width (> 0.0) of the stopes in the face plane of the tubing grid.

Separation

Specify the spacing (>= 0.0) of consecutive stopes in the face plane of the tubing grid.

This sets the distance by which the extruded tubes are separated across the strike of the stopes.

Vertical

Specify the dimension and separation of the stopes in the face plane of the tubing grid.

Dimension

Specify the “height” (> 0.0) of the stopes in the face plane of the tubing grid.

Separation

Specify the "vertical" spacing (>= 0.0) of consecutive stopes in the face plane of tubing grid.

This sets the distance by which the extruded tubes are separated vertically across the height of the stopes.
