New Task

In this topic we will go through the process of bringing Tasks into Gantt Scheduler, either individually or in bulk. This includes:

  • Creating a Task individually in the Tasks menu

  • Formatting a list of Tasks in Excel to prepare for import

Importing a list of Tasks from a spreadsheet

Creating a Task individually:

  1. Select Tasks from the ribbon

  2. Click the green Add button on the right of the Tasks Setup window.

  3. Edit the properties of the Task:

    1. Add a Title.

    2. Select the Process.

    3. Set a Prime Quantity.

    4. (Optional) Set a Rehandle Quantity.

Unique with a Total Quantity

Each Task should be unique (through a combination of the Task Title and Process) and requires a Total Quantity. If the concept of Rehandle does not apply, Prime Quantity and Total Quantity are usually the same.

Formatting a list of Tasks in Excel

Instead of instructions, these are guidelines for formatting a list of Tasks in Excel for importing:

  • Download a blank template for importing Gantt Tasks below:

Required column headers

The following column headers are required for a list of Tasks in a spreadsheet format:

  • Title

  • Process

  • Prime Quantity Or Total Quantity (if only one is provided, they are imported with the same value)

Optional column headers

Other column headers that are optional but that will have their values stored when importing are:

  • Percentage Complete

  • Predecessors

Other required conditions

  • No duplicate Tasks in worksheet rows (the combination of Title and Process must be unique).

  • Processes must exist in the project before importing.
