Report View

After a report is generated in the Reporting service it is displayed in Report View. The window consists of the following areas:

Header

  • Contains a drop-down list of display formats. Select a format from the list. The Data Browser format provides you with the tools to further define the display.

  • Save to the Library . Define the name of the report that you wish to save to the Library, then click OK.

    If you use the Advanced button on the report type definition pane, you can include macros to define the name.

  • Email . To email the current report.

Toolbar

  • Print. To print the current report.
  • Save to a file.
  • Share documents. Upload documents and project files, then share them online. Create a new document online and let others write, edit, and comment on it.
  • Display options - next and previous page, zoom, find and others.
  • Report display. The main area is taken up with the report. To the left are options to:
    • List the pages. Click on a page in the list to make it the current page.
    • Search. Type in the text to be found and define its parameters.

Report View formats

Report view allows you to choose from a number of different formats to display the report.

Included are the following:

Format Comment
PDF A Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format that is independent of application software, hardware, and operating system.
Excel A proprietary product file format that displays the report in a formatted spread-sheet view. The report is presented in a visually pleasing way that is easy to read with the use of lines, shading, different font sizes and more.

Excel (Data Only)

The same file type as above. The file consists essentially of the report data without the line, shades and shapes formatting of the previous file.
Word A proprietary product file format.
Data Browser* A Pitram Portal data viewing window. The display includes data extracted directly from the database, so you will see some columns that do not appear in other formats.
CSV* Comma separated values. A file with all the values separated by commas. This format is appropriate for importing into other programs such as Excel.
Fixed Space Columns of data with the values separated by spaces.
TAB Delimited* Columns of data with the values separated by Tabs.
XML Schema* An XML schema is a description of a type of XML document, typically expressed in terms of constraints on the structure and content of documents of that type.
XML Data* An output consisting of an XML schema and the data.

Asterisk* denotes the formats that can be accessed in either Report View or in the Data Browser.
