Tagging system

A tagging system is installed on site to monitor the movements of equipment and personnel, and are are particularly appropriate at underground mining operations where wireless communications are unreliable.

Tag readers are installed at defined waypoints. When a tagged unit of equipment or person passes a tag reader, the date-time and identification of the tag are saved to a database. A Loader Performance panel in Data Acquisition or Pitram 3D can be used to view the activity on site.

To establish a tagging system on site:

  1. A Mine Radio System (MRS) tagging system must be installed and configured.
  2. Connectors must be configured on the Manage Connectors | Pitram | Configuration tab of the System service (Refer to the Pitram Portal help for more information).

The tagging system also requires the following to be defined in Reference Edit:

  • An association between the waypoints and the tag readers that will be located at the waypoints. This relationship establishes the location of the tag reader. The waypoints must be defined with the following attribute:

WaypointDeviceID = the ID of the associated tag reader.

  • A tag for each of the equipment units and personnel involved in tagging. Each tag can be identified by its unique ID. Thus, each tag token must have the following attribute defined:

RFTagID = unique tag ID.
