Data File

On the File | File Editor tab, in the Data File group:

  • Select New | New File to create a file with an entirely new structure. To use the structure of an existing file, select New from Template.

  • Select New/Modify File to create a new file, or modify a file by altering the field names, types, widths, or the number of decimal places.

  • Select New from Template to use the structure of an existing file to create a new file. The New File from Template form is opened.

  • Select New Macro to create the default structure for a Macro file. Alternatively, use a template to copy the structure (and optionally the data) from an existing file.

  • Select New Lookup to create a new Lookup table.

  • Select an option from the Open menu to open a file for editing in the editor.

  • Click View to open a file in view-only mode.

  • Click Save (CTRL + S) to save the changes you have made to a file currently open in the File Editor. If you have multiple files open, only the current file will be saved. To save all open files, select the Save All option. Save and Save All options are only enabled when you make changes to a file.

  • Click Save As (CTRL + SHIFT + S) to save a copy of the current file.

  • Select Save As Filtered options to a copy of the current file, but save filtered records only. This option is only available when a filter has been applied to the file.
