Subset

On the Drillhole tab, in the Database group: Select Filter | Subset to generate a new database, or generate new files, from the filtered records in an existing database. You also have the option of generating a database or files that contain exceptions, in other words, all the records that do not pass the filter.

This option is also available from Viewer | Database | More when the validation viewer is open.

You do not necessarily need to write filtered records to an output database. If you are using the function to export data, for example, there is no need to specify an output database.

Input

Database

In the Subset Filtered Records form, double-click (or click on the Select icon) to select the name of the database you want to subset.

Filter

To apply a filter, select the check box and enter the number of the filter you want to apply. To see a list of available filters double-click or click on the Forms icon. To set up a new filter right-click.

Database

Optionally, double-click (or click on the Ellipsis) to select the name of the database to which the records that pass the filter will be written. If the database exists it will be overwritten.

File suffix

Specify a file name suffix. This will be used to generate unique file names for the extracted data files. If the files exist you will be prompted to overwrite them.

If you are overwriting an existing database and generating new files, the names of the output files must match the names of the files in the existing database. In the event of an error message, to proceed you will need to do one of the following:

  1. Delete the existing database.
  2. Enter a new Database name.
  3. Change the File suffix so that the file names match.

Exceptions

Database

If you want to generate a database containing the records that do not pass the filter, select or enter the name of the database here. If the database exists you will be prompted to overwrite it.

File suffix

Specify a file name suffix. This will be used to generate unique file names for the extracted data files. If the files exist you will be prompted to overwrite them.

Report file

Optionally enter the name of a Report file to which the results of the process will be written. The Report file indicates the success or failure of the records processed for each file in the database.

Run

Finally, click Run to run the process.
