14. Swell Factors step

The Swell factors step is used to calculate loose volume from bank volume, for the purposes of dump capacity calculations. Swell factors for haulage calculations can be configured in Haul Infinity under the Materials setup task.

To configure Swell factors in Haul Infinity

  1. Go to Haul Infinity > Setup tab > Materials step.

  2. Add two new materials: “Ore” and “Waste”.

  3. Set Density for Ore to 3 t/m³ and for Waste to 2.5 t/m³.

  4. Set Moisture percentage for both Ore and for Waste to 5%.

  5. Set Swell to Bucket percentage for both Ore and for Waste to 120%.

  6. Set Swell to Tray percentage for both Ore and for Waste to 125%.

By default, swell factors are applied to the <All Parcels> group. To create new material groups follow the steps below:

Configure Mutex Parcel Group

  1. Go to Reserves tab > Data panel.

  2. Click the gear icon to open the Configure Parcel Subsets window.

  3. In the Parcel Subsets section add new Parcel Subsets: “Ore” and “Waste”.

  4. Tick relevant parcels for each subset:

    1. Tick “bg”, “hg”, “hgha“, “hghs”, “lg” parcels for Ore subset.

    2. Tick “minw” and “w” parcels for Waste subset.

  5. In the Mutex Parcel Groups section add new Mutex Groups and rename it to “Haulage”.

  6. Assign relevant Subset Names to each Parcel:

    1. For parcels “bg”, “hg”, “hgha“, “hghs”, “lg” set subset name to “Ore”.

    2. For parcels “minw” and “w” set subset name to “Waste”.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Return to the Swell Factors step.

  3. In the Mutex Parcel Group field select “Haulage” group.
